InProcess Instruments develops, manufactures and sells mass spectrometers for on-line gas analysis in industry, research and laboratory.

The company, which was founded in 1997 by Wolfgang Hrosch and Bernd Laser, is located in Bremen, Germany, and offers individual systems for customers worldwide. Starting point was the transfer of process mass spectrometry technology - based on quadrupole technology - from Balzers AG (now Inficon AG), Liechtenstein, to the new company.

In the past decades, the city of Bremen has become an internationally recognized center of excellence for research and development in mass spectrometry with well known companies like Bruker Daltonics or Thermo Electron. With its university and an industry cluster in mass spectrometry, the location is ideal for InProcess Instruments as it benefits from technology transfer and cooperations. InProcess Instruments team of highly specialized scientists and engineers utilizes this environment to improve its products, which are constantly adjusted to the changing needs of the end user. Summer 2003 the company moved to a new building at the Airport City Center Bremen. At 785 square meters the space for offices, storage and laboratories provides ideal work conditions for the employees and enough room for further growth. From its headquarters near the Bremen international airport, InProcess Instruments also provides worldwide technical support for more than 100 customers in cooperation with a network of international partners. The range of products includes nine different analytical systems as well as the recently developed gas analyser GAM 200/Multiport and the software InProcess QUADSTAR®.

Complete Solutions for On-line Gas Analysis

InProcess Instruments has specialized in the development of special solutions for customer-specific tasks in gas analysis. The individually configured equipment in a modular style includes the required software and forms a complete system. The perfect combination of these mass spectrometers and InProcess QUADSTAR®-Software allows software support for all product groups, fully automated calibration and analysis, efficient data analysis, easy generation of reports, as well as modem support for remote diagnosis and maintenance. InProcess QUADSTAR® also supplies application-specific modules. The new 32-bit version can be used with Microsofts Windows® XP.

Areas of Application

InProcess Instruments strength is the individual attention for customers with specific needs and measuring problems. For this measuring technology, the main areas of application are on-line process gas analysis, quality control and special applications for the coupling with other analytical technologies such as elemental analysis and thermogravimetry. Because of its universal applicability, mass spectrometry is being used in a wide range of industries as well as in laboratory and research. The functions include process control, quality control and environmental protection. The keys to the technologys success are the universality of its measuring principles, high selectivity, the capability to analyze multiple components, speed, high sensitivity, and a very dynamic measuring range. The resulting advantage: Major components (up to 100 percent) and minor components (up to sub-ppm concentrations) can be identified simultaneously. - Quick, specific and quantitative results provide security, efficiency and guaranteed quality.
