Innovative software:
* consolidates and transforms microbiology laboratory data into actionable information for treatment decisions
* recaptures time for lab managers through efficiency gains and full control of lab workflow

A world leader in in vitro diagnostics, bioMérieux presented Myla™, a paradigm-shifting software application, at the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in Vienna, Austria. Myla is a browser-based application that provides microbiology laboratory managers and technicians with a set of tools to revolutionize the way they work. It was designed by microbiologists for microbiologists to recapture the time spent on information retrieving and reporting activities through improved connectivity, laboratory workflow and information management. For more information, visit www.mylahelps.com.

"For patients with an infectious disease, time to treatment makes a critical difference in their outcome. Myla will transform the way microbiologists work, bringing two breakthroughs to the microbiology lab: significantly improving operational efficiency and making the most relevant information readily available to clinicians so they can take action rapidly," said Stéphane Bancel, Chief Executive Officer of bioMérieux. "Myla is a fundamental part of bioMérieux's Full Microbiology Lab Automation to deliver faster results for improved patient care."

As the world leader in microbiology, bioMérieux has a deep understanding of the microbiology testing process and the integration of automated systems. The Company collaborated with a group of lab managers and technicians from around the world to identify their needs and tailor a solution to address them.

About Myla™

Myla will offer rich connectivity between bioMérieux systems, other instruments, the laboratory information system and eventually other hospital information systems. It will also enable a faster time to result by real-time collection, consolidation and delivery of clinically relevant test results. Improving information flow between automated systems avoids the redundancy of data entry, saving time and minimizing potential errors. Using Myla, laboratory managers and technicians will work from a dashboard that provides a comprehensive view of all testing activities in the lab. It will thus be possible to adjust resources to anticipate bottlenecks and improve efficiency. The solution will have the flexibility to allow lab managers to customize their dashboard to show information such as quality indicators and workflow metrics for continuous operational improvement. Myla will be web enabled, making the software easy to deploy and facilitating access to information. Relevant information will be "pushed" to microbiologists when it is needed and easily accessible on mobile devices so time isn't lost retrieving it from the system. The software will also send alerts on bacterial resistance trends so that hospitals can immediately implement specific prevention and control actions.

About FMLA™

Full Microbiology Lab Automation (FMLA) helps customers achieve substantial productivity gains by improving lab efficiency and utilization of automated systems. Focused on faster time to result for improved patient care, bioMérieux introduced FMLA in 2008 to streamline the workflow and efficiency of the microbiology laboratory, from sample reception and distribution, organism identification and antimicrobial resistance analysis, to result management and interpretation.
