The German company BlueSens is presenting a new bench-top gas analyzer. The BenchOne Biogas is an easy to use laboratory-scale analyzer for biogas. It can simply be connected to the off-gas line of a vessel or a fermenter and the measurement can start right away. Bench tests related to the production of Biogas can be easily and reliably monitored, analyzed and documented using the BenchOne Biogas. It measures simultaneously CO2 as well as CH4 in real-time.

The analyzer contains two infrared sensors. One measures carbon dioxide in the range of 0-50%Vol. while the other detects methane in the range of 0-100%Vol. The IR-sensors do not have any cross sensitivity to humidity or hydrogen sulphide (H2S). The integrated pressure sensor compensates pressure fluctuations of the process automatically to provide proper measuring values. Corrosion is prevented by the use of heated stainless steel piping for internal gas flow. During the experiment actual values are available at a glance at the two displays. The measuring values can be continuously transmitted to a process control system or a PC via 4-20mA analog output or RS232/RS485 serial interfaces. Optionally the new bioprocessing-software BlueVis installed on any PC can be used to monitor, log and analyze the process.

The BenchOne offers a lot of advantages to facilitate the work in the laboratory. Sample drawing with related gas conditioning is obsolete due to the clever design. Likewise there is no requirement for any pump as no minimum gas flow is necessary. Therefore the BenchOne analyzer is particularly suitable for processes with low gas production rate. Long-term experiments can be run without constant supervising or manual adjustments. The BenchOne Biogas is a convincing solution for easy and effective monitoring of biogas processes in the laboratory.
