»Life Sciences Bremen« Represents Dynamic Life Sciences Industry in the Federal State of Bremen, Germany

New Brochure and Logo Will Be Presented

Life Sciences Bremen (LSB) will exhibit at the 18th International Mass Spectrometry Conference (IMSC 2009) in Bremen, Germany, from August 31 to September 4. LSB will for the first time present its new corporate brochure and logo at Booth C20 at the IMSC 2009.

Life Sciences Bremen represents the interests of innovative life sciences companies in the
Federal State of Bremen, Germany. LSB members are mainly focussed on application- and
market-oriented research in the area of analytics and diagnostics. Life sciences are perceived
as a key technology for securing the future well-being of mankind and the environment.

In 2008 the LSB member companies had combined sales of about half a billion Euros and they currently employ over 1,200 highly qualified specialists.

With two global market leaders, Bremen holds a world-leading position in mass spectrometry – a high-tech and growth market with exceptional perspectives for the years to come. Bremen is also home to a major European R&D center for medical image analysis software and one of the leading German laboratory suppliers.
.
In addition there are small, innovative companies, focussed on diagnostics and analytics with
applications in research, human health as well as environmental and food analysis. Further
activities in the Federal State of Bremen are plant breeding, biological and chemical
manufacturing, industrial biotechnology and information services for the management of life
sciences enterprises.

Dr. Boris Oberheitmann, President of LSB, states: “This year has been a tremendous one for
LSB. Starting from virtually out of nowhere, we created a feeling of excitement about our
rapidly growing member base and just welcomed last week our 12th new member company
within the first 8 months of the year 2009. The Federal State of Bremen has a dynamic and
innovative analytical and diagnostic cluster of life science companies which is headed by the
two world market leaders in mass spectrometry: Bruker Daltonik GmbH and Thermo Fisher
Scientific (Bremen) GmbH – both members of Life Sciences Bremen”.

Dr. Claus Beninga, LSB Deputy President, adds: “Within the last quarter our LSB working
groups have put togeter a new corporate design and a brochure about LSB, which we present
for the first time at IMSC 2009 with support from the economic development agencies of the
Federal State of Bremen, WFB and BIS”. Summing it all up, Marcus Lippold, third Board
Member of Life Sciences Bremen, says: “Right time, right place, right industry, right
companies, right people – watch out for more”!
