Proteros biostructures today announced that Dr. Gerhard Müller has joined the management team to lead the company´s service initiative in fragment based lead generation. Gerhard joins the Proteros group as Chief Scientific Officer and Managing Director of the newly founded 100% subsidiary company Proteros fragments GmbH and has responsibility for the design and further expansion of the company´s in-house compound and fragment library, the fragment evolution process, and the transition into lead optimisation. Gerhard will in this context also work very closely with Mercachem B. V., Proteros´ chemistry partner in the recently announced joint offering regarding structure based lead generation.

Gerhard Müller joins Proteros from GPC Biotech AG where he was, for the last three years Vice President Drug Discovery. In addition to GPC Biotech Gerhard has a demonstrated successful track record in small-molecule drug discovery projects with Glaxo, Bayer AG, and N. V. Organon, where he gained valuable managerial expertise in running entire pre-clinical research departments and project portfolio management responsibilities. In addition, Gerhard developed impressive entrepreneurial skills during the time when he held the position of Chief Scientific Officer at Axxima Pharmaceuticals AG (founded by Axel Ullrich). Gerhard received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 1992 from the Technical University of Munich, working with Prof Dr. Horst Kessler.
