Until now, if customers wanted to 'name' the chemicals in a sample they had to buy something the size of a filing cabinet. The microengineering revolution is long overdue in mass spectrometry. Microsaic is the first company to successfully miniaturize a chip-based atmospheric pressure ionisation mass spectrometer (API-MS) detector. Microsaic has integrated the key components of an API-MS onto patented, user-replaceable chips. Our technology now makes it possible for customers to buy a 'personal analyser' and use it just like a desktop PC.
Microsaic Systems (Woking, UK) introduces the Microsaic 3500 MiD detector, capable of rapidly 'naming' the chemicals in liquid samples using industry standard quadrupole mass spectrometry. The Microsaic 3500 MiD detector is many times smaller than comparable laboratory-scale MS instruments, and consumes far less electricity, gas and solvent. There are no hot, noisy floor pumps.
The analytical engine at the heart of the Microsaic 3500 MiD detector is the ionchip®, the world's first chip-based mass analyser. Key components are supplied in tough, interchangeable modules which can be replaced in minutes, eliminating the need for service call-outs and radically reducing system downtime.
The Microsaic 3500 MiD detector includes a built-in computer running the 'Molecular iD' application: an extensive, customizable software suite which may be interfaced with a LAN via an IP address.
About Microsaic Systems
Microsaic Systems manufactures and sells highly deployable detector products capable of quickly and accurately identifying chemical compounds in liquids, gases and solids. Microsaic's detectors are based the ionchip® analytical engine, the world's first chip-based mass analyser, and are many times smaller and consume far less electricity, gas and solvent than comparable laboratory-scale mass spectrometer instruments.
Microsaic Systems was formed in 2001 with technology developed at Imperial College London, the UK's leading technical university. Microsaic owns 80 patents. Microsaic's headquarters are twenty minutes from London Heathrow.
