Overbrook Scientific, Inc.. (7/30/12). "Press Release: Overbrook Scientific, Inc. Adds Oral Fluids-based LDTD Posters to Website".
Overbrook Scientific, Inc., US distributor for Phytronix Technologies' Laser Diode Thermal Desorption (LDTD) ion source announces that five new application notes and posters, originally presented at the recently completed Society of Forensic Toxicology (SOFT) show (July 2012) in Boston, MA (USA) have been added to the website (http://www.overbrookscientific.com/Technical-Support/LDTD-Application-Notes/toxicology.aspx).
Significant is the fact that LDTD has been used in high throughput screening and/or confirmations of drugs of abuse testing in toxicology laboratories going beyond the urine matrix, and now includes oral fluids (saliva) and whole blood. LDTD provides ultra-fast analysis of drugs and metabolites screening with minimal sample preparation.
Amongst the new posters are five that focus on use of the Phytronix Technologies' Laser Diode Thermal Desorption (LDTD) ion source in conjunction with the OraSure (Bethelehem, PA) Intercept® device used for saliva collection. The ease of use of the Intercept® oral fluid sampling device provides an accurate and fast sampling method for many drugs of abuse. Titles include:
> AN-1212 - Butalbital, Secobarbital and Phenobarbital Confirmation in Oral Fluids by Laser Diode Thermal Desorption (LDTD) -MS/MS
> AN-1207 - Fentanyl Confirmation in Oral Fluids by Laser Diode Thermal Desorption (LDTD) - MS/MS.
> AN-1206 - Phencyclididine (PCP) Confirmation in Oral Fluids by Laser Diode Thermal Desorption (LDTD) - MS/MS.
> AN-1204 - Amphetamine and Methamphetamine Confirmation in Oral Fluids by Laser Diode Thermal Desorption (LDTD) - MS/MS.
> AN-1202 - Cocaine Confirmation in Oral Fluids by Laser Diode Thermal Desorption (LDTD) - MS/MS.
The LDTD technology working in tandem with Mass spectrometer (MS/MS) is geared towards high throughput applications in drug discovery research, toxicology, forensics, food safety and environmental monitoring.
