Waters announced today it will introduce a new emitter and sprayer for capillary and nanoflow mass spectrometry applications at ASMS, June 5 - 9, in San Antonio, TX. Waters NanoEase Emitter features robust construction, ease-of-installation, and extended shelf life. In addition, the same NanoEase Emitter can be used at nanoscale or capillary flows ranging from 100 nL/min up to 10 m L/min compared to alternative emitter designs requiring different pulled or tapered-tip diameters based upon operating flow.

Frequently, fused silica pulled-tip or tapered-tip emitters are replaced when fouled. By comparison, the end of a NanoEase Emitter can be re-generated for continued use by simply cleaving a small portion from the tip. Furthermore, the 360 m m outer diameter body design is durable when handled and can be easily installed into conventional fittings. Its pre-cut polished end helps maintain resolution of chromatographically separated components prior to introduction into the mass spectrometer for analysis.

The NanoEase Emitters are optimally developed for use with Waters® new Universal NanoFlow™ Sprayer. This Sprayer is designed with a nebulizing gas sheath and has a slide-and-lock union holder to facilitate alignment of the Emitter in the union. The Sprayer utilizes a zero-dead-volume micro union so that the Emitter and column outlet are precisely mated end-to-end. This design provides minimal dead volume and is easy to install and use. The Waters NanoEase Emitter and Waters Universal NanoFlow Sprayer are the subjects of one or more pending patent applications.
