Waters announced today it will introduce a new version of its mass spectrometry data solution at ASMS, June 5 - 9, in San Antonio, TX. Managing analytical data so that it is convenient and simple to process and review without compromising security, is a major challenge impacting today's laboratory productivity. With this in mind, Waters Corporation announced enhanced tools and new features for MassLynx Software, its market-leading solution for managing mass spectrometry data. Integrating mass spec data into an information-management solution, automating sample list processing and simplifying security measures translate into a more efficient and productive laboratory.

To simplify the user experience, QuanLynx™ and OpenLynx™ Application Managers are bundled with MassLynx 4.1 Software. Now, any level of user - from a technician to an experienced mass spectrometrist - can automate quantitative or qualitative processing, review results and generate reports. For users of the separately licensed OA Login OpenAccess Software, the new OpenLynx Administrator Tool Kit centralizes the management of equipment, data and users from a PC remote from OpenLynx OpenAccess Systems.

MassLynx 4.1 Software seamlessly integrates with Waters NuGenesis® SDMS (Scientific Data Management System) 7.0 to store raw mass spectrometry data and processed results over extended periods of time. Users can now centrally store and also repurpose MassLynx data stored in NuGenesis SDMS to collaborate with one another saving valuable time and furthering the analytical effort. Users can also easily launch the QuanLynx Application Manager browser from NuGenesis SDMS to view results. After reviewing and editing their results, users can also save directly to NuGenesis SDMS. MassLynx users can also capture printed information directly into NuGenesis SDMS with its patented print-to-database functionality.

Security Enhancements for Regulatory Compliance

Because security is critical in the regulated laboratory, MassLynx 4.1 Software's security architecture has been enhanced to support data acquisition over a network. Users may now acquire and save data to a network file server allowing multi-user access to both data and results as opposed to single-user access to data and results on individual workstations. IT administration of data and results is also simplified for greater confidence in meeting compliance regulations.

MassLynx 4.1 Software allows multiple users to queue sample runs without interrupting current operations while maintaining a record of system use: the system remains operational as different users log in, submit their samples and then log out. A record of each event is captured and stored in the audit trail to document sample ownership for compliance purposes. One of the most popular new features in MassLynx 4.1 Software is the ability to login in regulated or non-regulated mode.

Quadrupole Enhancements

MassLynx 4.1 Software introduces AutoTune for the Quattro Premier™, Quattro micro™ and ZQ™ mass spectrometers. AutoTune optimizes instrument settings for resolution and sensitivity, so scientists can be confident that their instruments are operating optimally. Optional QuanOptimize ™ Software enables fully automatic optimization of compound ionization for ESCi® ion sources, maximizing sensitivity for each analyte and greatly increasing the efficiency of the high-throughput analytical laboratory.

Tof Enhancements

In MassLynx 4.1 enhancements to instrument control for the LCT Premier ™ and Q-Tof Premier ™ mass spectrometers optimize these high performance instruments with novel real-time algorithms. The result is simplified instrument setup for optimal exact mass performance, an increase in data quality and, therefore, confidence in information from the system.

Upgrades for Current MassLynx Users

MassLynx 4.1 Software upgrades will be available to current support plan subscribers. Users will be notified after the release so they may order the upgrade.
