Pronota nv, the Belgium-based predictive biomarker company, has announced the appointment of Dr Huw Davies as Business Development Director, with immediate effect. This is a new position created within Pronota and reflects the Company's commercial focus as it brings its protein biomarker discovery services to the market.

With more than a decade of commercial experience in the Life Sciences sector, Dr Davies comes to Pronota from Ciphergen Biosystems in Guildford, UK, where he was Program Manager for the UK, Ireland and The Netherlands. Dr Davies was also Manager of the European Biomarker Discovery Centre, liaising with pharmaceutical clients and clinical collaborators and leading to the development and characterisation of novel biomarkers. Dr Davies holds a PhD from the John Innes Centre, Norwich, UK, and a first class degree in biological sciences.

Commenting on the new appointment, Nick McCooke, chief executive officer of Pronota, said: "I am extremely pleased to welcome Huw to the Pronota team. Huw brings considerable experience in business development and the commercialisation of biomarker discovery platforms in the life science sector. He also has experience in managing biomarker discovery programs and this expertise will be of value as Pronota continues to move forward with developing its own protein-based diagnostic and pharmacodiagnostic products".
