Springer. (5/21/10). "Press Release: Springer to Publish Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry". New York & Heidelberg.
Starting in January 2011 Springer will publish the Journal of The American Society for Mass Spectrometry, the society's official journal, which was previously published by Elsevier. Appearing monthly, the journal is devoted to the publication of research papers covering all aspects of mass spectrometry, under the guidance of Editor-in-Chief, Professor Michael L. Gross of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
The Journal of The American Society for Mass Spectrometry publishes papers from all fields in which mass spectrometry can play a role. which include chemistry, physics, geology, and environmental science as well as the biological, health, and life sciences. The journal is comprehensive, and publishes papers on both fundamentals and applications of mass spectrometry. In addition to original research papers, the journal also publishes communications, application notes, accounts and perspectives.
Mindy Okura-Marszycki, Editor of Cellular Biology at Springer, said, "We are honored and excited about the society's decision to publish their journal with Springer, and are looking forward to a fruitful collaboration. We have a shared vision - to work with ASMS on identifying and achieving their goals for the future of the society and journal."
Gary Glish, President of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, said, "ASMS is excited about our new partnership with Springer to publish the Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry. We feel that Springer provides the expertise and commitment to maintain and advance JASMS as the premier journal in which to publish the most exciting advances in the field of mass spectrometry."
The American Society for Mass Spectrometry was formed in 1969 to promote and disseminate knowledge of mass spectrometry and related topics. Membership includes over 7,500 scientists involved in research and development. Members come from academic, industrial and governmental laboratories. Their interests include advancement of techniques and instrumentation in mass spectrometry, as well as fundamental research in chemistry, geology, forensics, biological sciences and physics.
