Bruker Daltonics, Inc.. (3/18/02). "Press Release: Bruker Daltonics Launches GenoLink™ – an Automated SNP Genotyping Accessory to Accelerate Functional Genomics Reserach". New Orleans, Louisiana.

Bruker Daltonics Inc. (NASDAQ: BDAL) today introduces GenoLink™, an automated accessory for MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry-based SNP genotyping at the 2002 Pittsburgh Conference. GenoLink complements the Bruker Daltonics Proteineer™ suite and its MALDI-TOF systems for proteomics, by adding an automated accessory for SNP genotyping. By interfacing GenoLink with the Proteineer suite, Bruker Daltonics targets functional genomics studies, where researchers wish to analyze both genetic variations and protein expression.

GenoLink combines semi-automated sample preparation, automated MALDI-TOF analysis and bioinformatics to achieve very high accuracy with direct label-free SNP genotyping. GenoLink incorporates our new mapII/pure™ robot to perform semi-automated sample processing, genopure™ magnetic bead DNA purification and AnchorChip™ MALDI target preparation. GenoLink is an accessory that can be integrated with Bruker Daltonics' autoflex™ or ultraflex™ MALDI-TOF mass spectrometers to detect SNPs within a few seconds per sample. The SNPs are automatically assigned by our genotools™ bioinformatics software, which also performs quality control.

GenoLink addresses the needs of MALDI-TOF customers primarily focused on proteomics research. Our strategic partners, Sequenom and Variagenics, offer dedicated high-throughput SNP genotyping solutions based on MALDI-TOF worldwide.

Dr. Hanno Langen, Head of Proteomics, at Roche (Basel, Switzerland) commented on the new GenoLink solution: "Linking genomics and proteomics is essential for an in-depth understanding of cellular functions. The linked MALDI platform is ideally suited for bridging genomics and proteomics with the same technology." Dr. Dorothee Foernzler, Head of Human Genetics Laboratories at Roche, added: "Combining genetics, gene expression and proteomics approaches like this opens very powerful and indispensable new ways for drug discovery and development."
