Proteros biostructures GmbH is pleased to announce that Dr. Dirk Ullmann has joined the company in the position of Chief Scientific Officer. In addition to further developing the science base at Proteros, Dirk will have responsibilities for all ongoing client projects including over fifty scientific staff.

Prior to joining Proteros, Dirk worked for the Evotec AG’s service division for eleven years. During this time Dirk served in several senior scientific and operational roles and since 2007 as Senior Vice President of Discovery Biology with responsibilites including reagent production, assay development, structural biology and screening. Dirk’s achievements at Evotec include the establishment of platform enabling technologies for fragment-based drug discovery, high-content screening and stem cell biology and successfully deploying these technologies in commercial collaborations with leading pharmaceuticals and biotechnology companies.

Dirk Ullman obtained his PhD in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Leipzig, Germany on protease-catalyzed peptide synthesis, working with Prof. Dr. H.-D. Jabuke, and did his post-doctoral traing on protein engineering at Breandeis University, Waltham MA (USA).

To date Dirk has published more than 35 papers within the life sciences area and was awarded with the »Friedrich-Weygand-Award 1995« in Peptide Chemistry by the Max-Bergmann-Kreis.
