Biocrates Life Sciences AG. (9/6/10). "Press Release: Austrian Biocrates Life Sciences AG Announces Launch of Its Second Mass Spectrometry-based Metabolomics Research Kit – AbsoluteIDQ p180 Kit". Innsbruck.
Austrian BIOCRATES Life Sciences AG, a pioneer in the development of metabolite biomarker panels, announces the launch of its second kit product, the AbsoluteIDQ p180 Kit. With this latest addition to its product and services portfolio, the maker of the world's first mass-spectrometry-based metabolomics kit, the AbsoluteIDQ p150 Kit, now provides an even broader scope of capabilities in determining metabolic changes in cell culture, preclinical, and clinical research projects. Quantifying 186 metabolites from 5 compound classes, the AbsoluteIDQ p180 Kit is an excellent choice for researchers looking for a cost-effective solution to measure metabolites under quality-controlled conditions in their own laboratory.
BIOCRATES announces the launch of the latest addition to its products and services portfolio, the AbsoluteIDQ p180 Kit. The new kit, an extended version of the first-ever mass-spectrometrybased metabolomics kit developed by BIOCRATES, quantifies 186 metabolites from 5 compound classes, i.e., acylcarnitines, amino acids, phospho- and sphingolipids, hexoses, and biogenic amines. Not only does it deliver the widest available range of metabolomics information in a single assay, it also offers the same ease of identification and reliability of quantification already provided by its predecessor, the AbsoluteIDQ p150 Kit. Designed for use with AB Sciex API 4000™ or 4000 QTRAP® mass spectrometers, it enables researchers to measure all of their sensitive sample material and to analyze their proprietary data right in their own lab.
The BIOCRATES AbsoluteIDQ p180 Kit is a combined FIA-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS assay for robust and sensitive quantification. Quantification utilizes stable isotope-labeled or chemically homologous internal standards. The patented plate design ensures efficient sample derivatization and excellent reproducibility in analyte extraction. The assay is suitable for both manual and automated high-throughput operation and works with sample volumes as small as 10 µL.
The 5 compound classes analyzed by AbsoluteIDQ p180 Kit cover a wide range of relevant physiological events, including energy metabolism, fatty acid transport and mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation, ketosis, oxidative stress, or mitochondrial membrane damage (acylcarnitines), amino acid metabolism, urea cycle, glycolytic or gluconeogenetic activity, insulin sensitivity or resistance, or neurotransmitter metabolism (amino acids), carbohydrate metabolism (hexoses), dyslipidemias, membrane composition and damage, fatty acid profile, activity of desaturases, signaling cascades, or membrane damage (sphingomyelins) as well as neurological disorders, cell proliferation, or cell cycle progression (biogenic amines). The MetIQ Software that ships with the kit streamlines data analysis, calculating metabolite concentrations in an automated manner and offering a number of output formats.
Being based on targeted metabolomics, the AbsoluteIDQ p180 Kit not only eliminates the need for metabolite identification, it provides quantitative data that are annotated. This fast and reliable assay is an excellent choice for researchers who are looking for a cost-effective solution to measure metabolite panels under quality-controlled conditions in their own laboratory, even at high throughput.
About BIOCRATES Life Sciences AG
Founded in 2002 in Innsbruck, Austria, BIOCRATES has dedicated its research activities to the youngest addition to the 'omics' quartet of systems biology, i.e., metabolomics, the study of the body's small-molecule metabolites. The company's research and development focus rests on the identification and validation of powerful biomarker panels that help identify disease risk, diagnose diseases, assess disease severity, and guide treatment and on the development of 'companion diagnostics,' i.e., biomarkers that help assess how a new drug works in the body and identify patients most likely to respond to a treatment.
