Waters Corporation. (6/3/05). "Press Release: Taking Tandem Quadrupole MS to a Higher Level. Waters Unveils Quattro Premier™ XE at ASMS". Milford, MA.
Waters announced today it will introduce a new mass spectrometer at ASMS, June 5 - 9, in San Antonio, TX. Waters' highly-successful Quattro Premier mass spectrometer, the Micromass® Quattro Premier XE, comes with features that enhance the detection of negative ions increasing the sensitivity and accuracy of LC/MS quantification.
The Quattro Premier XE mass spectrometer is a compact, bench-top, tandem quadrupole mass spectrometer with a mass range of 2- 3,000 amu configured for atmospheric pressure ionization LC-MS/MS. The Quattro Premier XE mass spectrometer features the WHISPER™ dynolite photomultiplier detector that reduces detector noise for both positive and negative ion modes, and improved sensitivity in negative ion mode. The photomultiplier detector is enclosed in its own vacuum envelope and requires minimal maintenance.
Under MassLynx™ software control, the Quattro Premier XE system in combination with the ACQUITY Ultra Performance LC™ (UPLC™) technology is fast, selective, robust, and sensitive. Primary applications include bioanalyses, ADME screening during drug discovery and development, food safety, environmental monitoring, and clinical analyses.
Fully Compatible with Waters ® ACQUITY UPLC™ Technology
The Quattro Premier XE is loaded with features that make it the ideal companion for the ACQUITY UPLC system, Waters award-winning LC technology that, together with mass spectrometry, is making a significant impact in the analytical laboratory by improving the quantity and quality of information derived from LC/MS analyses. The Quattro Premier XE system's patented ZSpray™ API source maximizes source longevity and protects against "dirty" samples. Removing and cleaning source elements without breaking vacuum is a significant breakthrough in MS technology.
The T-Wave™ (Traveling Wave™) 1 enabled collision cell minimizes source-to-detector ion transit times for high-speed data acquisition. Multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) acquisition of 100 data points per second without peak intensity degradation means the Quattro Premier XE system in combination with ACQUITY UPLC can accurately integrate very narrow chromatographic peaks. MRM is a mode of data acquisition that is generally accepted to be the most sensitive and accurate means of LC/MS quantification.
Finally, because the Quattro Premier XE system can alternate between positive and negative ion modes in 20 ms, scientists can simultaneously analyze acidic and basic compounds in a single analytical run. This rapid dual ionization acquisition mode enables scientists to take full advantage of the speed of UPLC, saving valuable analytical time.
Waters is expected to commence first shipments of the Quattro Premier XE in June 2005. The Premier MS product family is Waters' most advanced line of mass spectrometers. Other Micromass brand mass spectrometers in the Premier product line family include the GCT Premier™, Q-Tof Premier™, Quattro Premier, LCT Premier™, and AutoSpec Premier™.
