Scienion AG. (9/4/06). "Press Release: Scienion Extends Its Drop-on-On-Demand Product Portfolio. sciFLEXARRAYER S1 for Applications in Research Labs". Dortmund & Berlin.

With its sciFLEXARRAYER S1 Scienion AG has launched the smallest of its prize awarded dispensing systems. The mini non-contact piezo dispensing roboter represents the ideal entry model for precise low liquid handling for a variety of applications in genome and proteome research.

Dr. Holger Eickhoff, CEO of Scienion AG, explains: "The sciFLEXARRAYER S1 is our answer to continuous requests for a low-cost non-contact dispenser providing scientists who don't need high throughput systems with our benchmark technology. This new S1 model is based on the same drop-on-demand technology as the higher throughput systems sciFLEXARRAYER S5 and S11 offering all proven advantages of the product line."

Developed as a research tool for molecular biology research labs the sciFLEXARRAYER S1 is capable of non-contact arraying of DNA and proteins, the production of cell transfection arrays and the preparation of MALDI targets. Within one second, liquid volumes of between 300 picoliters and 300 nanoliters can be spotted in steps of 300 picoliters. The compact single-channel system can work with one standard microtiter source plate and up to 4 glass or polymer slides or MALDI MS carriers. Equipped with an intuitive and graphical software, the sciFLEXARRAYER S1 can work with any standard computer via a USB interface. Due to its compact design, the sciFLEXARRAYER S1 also requires minimal lab space and can be moved around easily.

The new S1 model will be presented at the next Scienion workshop "Identifying Molecular Interactions - from Basic Research to Diagnostic Production Using Ultra Low Volume Liquid Handling", on September 25th and 26th 2006 in Dortmund. In practical sessions lead by application scientists, users will gain valuable knowledge on latest developments in the area of micro-arraying. The workshop is free of charge. About Scienion

SCIENION AG is a Berlin-based life science company offering complete solutions in the field of parallel bioanalytics. Customers include pharma and biotech companies as well as academic research institutions. Founded in December 2000 as a spin-off of the Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Genetics, the company was originally focused on biochip platform technologies. With the successful launch of the sciFLEXARRAYER dispensing system in 2003, the company´s focus has been switched to hardware.

The sciFLEXARRAYER allows the aspiration of ultra low level liquid volumes from different reservoirs and contact-free micro drop delivery in the picoliter range onto a variety of carriers. Today, Scienion represents a rapidly growing company, well positioned in the field of ultra low level liquid handling systems including applications in genomics, proteomics and high throughput.
