Ion Opticks Pty Ltd.. (9/9/26). "Press Release: IonOpticks Strengthens Regional Leadership with Two Strategic Appointments to Accelerate Growth across APACI & MEA".

Together, Ying Ying and Zhaoguan’s appointments strengthen IonOpticks’ commercial and technical support across APACI and MEA.

IonOpticks is strengthening its APACI & MEA leadership with the appointment of two new members to its Commercial team who will support customers across Asia-Pacific, India and MEA. Dr Ying Ying Chan has been appointed as Sales Director APACI & MEA, and Zhaoguan Wu as Field Applications Specialist, APACI & MEA.

Ying Ying is a strategic addition to the commercial leadership team as the company continues to scale its distributor network across a number of its most important growth regions.

Based in Singapore and fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, Ying Ying will lead commercial strategy across business development, customer support and collaborations, and strengthen relationships with the company’s distributor partners to enhance IonOpticks’ presence and its products in critical research domains across this important territory.

With more than 20 years of experience in the life sciences sector, Ying Ying brings deep commercial and technical expertise from her roles as Senior Director, APJ, Lab Products Group at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Head of BioAnalytics APAC at Sartorius and Technical Support Manager, APAC at Illumina. That breadth of experience has given her a front-row seat to some of the industry’s leading science and technology.

“Our distributors and customers across APACI and MEA are working on some of the most exciting science in the industry, and we’re committed to supporting them closely,” said Darren Sher, Chief Commercial Officer at IonOpticks. “Ying Ying’s extensive regional experience means she’ll take those relationships even further, building the kind of close, responsive support that makes a genuine difference for researchers on the ground – and that’s ultimately what drives our growth in these markets too.”

Ying Ying holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the National University of Singapore, and her appointment reflects IonOpticks’ continued investment in experienced regional leadership as it scales its distribution network and deepens its presence across key growth markets. With her strategic industry knowledge and guidance, Ying Ying will continue to strengthen key customer relationships and bring IonOpticks’ class-leading chromatography solutions to more researchers across the territory.

“I joined IonOpticks because the company plays an important role in enabling breakthroughs in the protein world,” said Ying Ying. “High-quality analytical tools are essential for researchers to confidently answer complex biological questions, and I am excited to be part of IonOpticks who have built a reputation for delivering both quality and innovation.”

Zhaoguan, also fluent in both English and Mandarin, joins IonOpticks as Field Applications Specialist in the same regions and brings hands-on experience in LC-MS, proteomics, and immunopeptidomics to his role. Having lived and worked across different languages and cultures, he has vast experience in meeting scientists from diverse backgrounds, learning about their research, and understanding what they are trying to achieve. Whether it’s solving a technical problem, improving a workflow, or simply talking through an experiment, Zhaoguan brings a strong foundation of collaboration and innovation to any lab.

His academic background spans degrees in analytical chemistry and biomedical sciences across Asia and North America, giving him a cross-disciplinary perspective that bridges analytical science and biology. Building on this foundation, Zhaoguan has developed extensive hands-on experience across LC-MS-based research in core facility settings. Most recently, he worked as a proteomics and immunopeptidomics platform specialist at Centre de recherche Azrieli du CHU Sainte-Justine in Montréal, Canada, where he managed high-resolution LC-MS platforms, developed and optimised advanced proteomic workflows, and supported researchers across a wide range of scientific projects.

Years of working on the other side of the LC-MS bench arm him with first-hand experience of the realities researchers face; from precious samples and demanding experiments to tight timelines, reproducibility challenges, and unexpected technical problems. That experience helps him understand not just the technical challenge, but why solving it matters to the people and science behind the samples.

Together, Ying Ying and Zhaoguan’s appointments strengthen IonOpticks’ commercial and technical support across APACI and MEA. Ying Ying will lead regional commercial strategy, deepen relationships with distributors and customers, and identify new opportunities for growth, while Zhaoguan will provide dedicated, on-the-ground applications support to help researchers optimise workflows, resolve technical challenges and get the most from IonOpticks technologies.

As IonOpticks continues to expand its global presence, strengthening regional expertise remains central to how the company supports its customers. With greater commercial leadership and technical capability across APACI and MEA, IonOpticks is well positioned to build closer relationships with researchers, increase opportunities for collaboration, and support the adoption of its chromatography solutions across a growing range of proteomics applications.
