MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry has been used for over 30 years in academic, pharmaceutical, clinical diagnostic and other industrial markets. In the last ten years the technique also entered successfully the fields of food safety, quality control and industrial microbiology. Thanks to a simple sample preparation protocol, followed by an automated acquisition of “proteotypic” fingerprint and subsequent bioinformatics pattern profiling, an identification of unknown samples is literally done in seconds. A reliable identification is based on the availability of well characterized type strains within the corresponding reference library.

Based on the emerging demand of fast and secure identification techniques BIOTECON Diagnostics in Potsdam announced an agreement with Bruker Daltonics in Bremen to distribute MALDI Biotyper platforms within the DACH area and countries in Eastern Europe.

In coordination with our business partners, we are now able to provide our customers with MALDI-TOF MS systems and customized solutions, followed by the introduction of a soon available new reference library focusing on the dairy and milk industry.
