[iito] Business Intelligence Announces Declaration of AI Training Opt-Out

> Download and Use of [iito] Data for AI Training Strictly Forbidden

> [iito] Still Welcomes the Indexing of Web Portals by Search Engines

[iito] Business Intelligence – a German business intelligence provider focussed on the life sciences industry – today announces the public declaration that it expressly prohibits and opts out of any text or data mining, web scraping or similar reproductions, extractions or uses of any [iito] web portals content for any purposes, including in relation to training, developing or commercializing any AI system, and by any means, including by bots, scrapers or other automated processes, in each case to the full extent permitted by applicable law in all relevant jurisdictions.

However, [iito] still welcomes the indexing of its web pages by search engines – whether AI-supported or not – and the use of this indexing to refer to its pages. [iito] has several hundred thousands of web pages online and believes that for many relevant questions/queries in the life science business field, it provides the best content available on the web, which is reflected in its high rankings for major life science-related searches for years now.

As all content created by [iito] has its origin in the work of real human beings and uses a specific policy of entering and indexing data, any abuse could be easily detected. For example, we do use names for “fictitious” organisations and persons and create “names” for deals according to unique, internal guidelines. [iito] also standardises the spelling of organisational, personal, product and other names in certain ways; this is also true for the classification of index terms.

Marcus Lippold, founder of [iito], comments: »We do believe that the mass download of content freely available on the web and its use for AI training without prior consent and without financial compensation is a criminal activity and that the declaration of “legitimate interest” by companies doing so has zero legitimation. In essence these actions are pure theft and we will do everything to prevent this. The factual policy of major AI players to treat any third party IP as non-existent, while fighting to protect all own IP, is a disgrace and a curse on the human race. To sum up: any use of [iito]-created data for AI training without prior written consent will be considered a criminal offence. Positively 4th Street, Mr. Jones: we don’t give no cheques to tax-deductible organisations. Period.«
