JEOL Ltd. Press Releases (November 2, 2011)

JEOL ASEAN Technical Center to Open at Thailand Science Park (TSP)

JEOL Ltd. (Gon'emon Kurihara, President) announced that their proposal to open a technical center, JEOL ASEAN Technical Center, in Thailand has been approved by the country's National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). Since 2004, the Thai government has stepped up their effort in developing technologies under the National Science and Technology Strategic Plan 2004-2013. Meanwhile, JEOL products, including electron microscopes, mass spectrometers, and NMR systems, have been widely used throughout Southeast Asia. The technical center will open at the Thailand Science Park (TSP) operated by the NSTDA, and will be used as a bases to provide technical support to the NSTDA, corporations, research institutes, and Japanese high tech firms in Southeast Asia and India. It will also upgrade and expand the research infrastructure in the area for local technological development. Shortly after the inception of the company, JEOL established local offices in the US and Europe, and has developed a renowned worldwide customer support network. Exploring the emerging markets is one of the critical issues in JEOL's midterm business plan, Challenge 5 (2010 to 2012). As part of this plan, JEOL has already opened local offices in China, Brazil, Russia, and India. The technical center is a strategic move in helping the victims of recent flood and developing technical support programs featuring speedy response and innovative ideas for research and development in the growing Southeastern Asian market. The center is scheduled to open in January 2012.
