Global warming and pollution have aroused interest in the monitoring and study of atmospheric gases that absorb the sun's ray. Shimadzu Scientific Instruments' streamlined Greenhouse Gas Analyzers are ideally suited to address current and evolving regulations, including the new U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Final Mandatory Reporting of Greenhouse Gases Rule, which requires large emitters of heat-trapping emissions to begin collecting greenhouse gas data under a new reporting system.

Used by research scientists for more than twenty years, and part of the System GC program, each system is tested in Shimadzu's System Integration Technology Lab and shipped with proof of performance, QA/QC and a field test standard. Both analyzers utilize the modular GC-2014, which offers four detectors, seven heated zones with 12 channels for advanced pressure control, 16 programmable relays and a large oven.

The first analyzer quantifies N2O, CO2 and CH4 in atmospheric air, and will also separate and provide quantitative information for N2, O2 and CO. Detection levels range from 100ppb for N2O to mid % levels for atmospheric N2 and O2. A second analyzer quantitates three trace gases, CO2, CH4, N2O, in an air matrix, in an analysis time of approximately 6 minutes.

In addition to monitoring/quantifying CO2, Methane and Nitrous Oxide, the analyzers can be expanded to include the analysis of SF6, perflorochemicals and hydrofluorocarbons.
