Beijing Genomics Institute is one of the leading global Genomics Institutes in the world, established in July 1999. Since then, BGI has grown rapidly and is partner in a number of international consortiums, including partnerships with the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, NIH and NHGRI on the 1,000 Genomes Project. BGI now has a number of research locations including major sites in Shenzhen and Beijing. BGI aims to advance the understanding of biology and medicine through the use of large-scale sequencing and bioinformatics analysis. The institute also offers sequencing services to the international community. BGI promotes the use of genome-scale scientific approaches and strongly supports collaborative efforts in order to achieve this goal. *
