At Analytica 2012, Bruker today announced several new product introductions for the research, industrial and applied markets, designed to deliver confident analyses with increased sensitivity, specificity and productivity, and to push the boundaries of advanced molecular and materials research applications. The new Bruker products introduced at Analytica 2012 include:

Mass Spectrometry and Separations:

SCION(TM) 436 and 456: Bruker introduces its next-generation gas chromatography (GC) platform - the SCION Series Gas Chromatographs. With over 600 Hz per channel, the new SCION 436-GC and 456-GC set a new standard for data acquisition speed. This advance increases productivity and provides a platform that will inspire further advancement of GC separation technology. Every SCION GC comes with a 9-inch, multi-language touch-panel designed for full GC operation in 13 different languages, making it truly a global instrument.

CompassCDS 3.0: This industry focused, operator-friendly and networked chromatography data system eliminates the costs associated with licensing of named users. With its capacity for customization, CompassCDS provides operators with a powerful tool for a variety of analytical operations. Available as a stand-alone or fully networked client/server application, CompassCDS meets a broad range of customer requirements. Designed for 24/7 production environments with current Windows versions as well as with Virtualized and Citrix metaframe installations, CompassCDS controls all current Bruker gas chromatographs, and GC custom analyzers for specific industrial analytical applications.

ionBooster(TM): This new high-temperature electrospray ion source boosts the sensitivity of Bruker mass spectrometers for environmental analysis, food testing and forensics. Sensitivity gains for many compounds of 5x to 100x greatly extend the quantitative capabilities of modern accurate-mass mass spectrometers, such as Bruker's unique maXis(TM) ultra-high resolution Qq-TOF systems. Inside the ionBooster, an electrospray is maintained at elevated vaporizing temperature to enable enhanced desolvation of analyte ions, even at high flow rates in UHPLC separations. Delivering more efficient ionization, the ionBooster enhances sensitivity and lowers detection limits.

Vibrational Spectroscopy:

LUMOS(TM): This new automated stand-alone FTIR microscope is designed to combine best performance for visible inspection and infrared spectral analysis with highest user comfort. Due to the motorization and networking of all moveable components inside the LUMOS, the system provides a high degree of automation. Its intuitive software guides the operator step-by-step through the process of data acquisition. Although the LUMOS is designed to be operated by non-experts for routine applications, its exceptional sensitivity makes it also suitable for highly demanding applications.

HI90(TM): The new Bruker Hyper-spectral Imaging system HI 90 is an imaging remote chemical sensing system based on the combination of a Michelson interferometer with a focal plane array detector. A major field of applications of the HI 90 system is homeland security. The HI 90 allows fast identification and imaging of hazardous gases from long distances. Other applications range from atmospheric research, geology and volcanology to industrial applications such as leak detection, emissions measurement, and industrial safety. The new HI 90 represents a new ultra-high performance hyper-spectral imaging system in Bruker's remote sensing product line, which also consists of the Scanning Infrared Gas Imaging System SIGIS 2 for homeland security and scientific applications, the mil-spec 360 degree scanning stand-off detector RAPID, as well as the ultra-high spectral resolution FTIR spectrometer IFS 125 for scientific applications in atmospheric research. X-ray Spectroscopy and Microanalysis:

Micro-CT Product Line: Following the recent acquisition of SkyScan N.V., the new Bruker microCT business presents its new product line of advanced, high-resolution micro computed tomography (CT) systems for three-dimensional (3D) X-ray imaging. Bruker microCT instruments can be configured for numerous applications in materials research and in the life sciences, including in vivo preclinical animal imaging, in vitro bone and soft tissue imaging, 3D imaging of electronic components, synthetic materials, new devices such as micro-sensors and cardio-stimulators, geological samples, fuel cell components, ceramics, and more. XFlash(R)6: The XFlash(R) 6 is the next generation of silicon drift detectors (SDD) for energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS) on electron microscopes. With the availability of large detector sizes up to 100 mm2, energy resolution down to 121 eV, and throughput up to an incredible 600,000 cps, the XFlash(R) 6 series sets new standards for speed, resolution and sensitivity in EDS analysis, and is exceptionally powerful for applications in nanotechnology research. With XFlash(R) 6, Bruker now offers the widest range of EDS detector sizes in the market to ensure optimal conditions for any application on any type of electron microscope.

S1 TITAN: The new S1 TITAN handheld XRF analyzer is among the lightest (1.44 kg including battery) tube-based handheld XRF analyzers on the market. The innovative S1 TITAN features an integrated touch-screen color display, a 50 kV X-ray tube, Bruker's proprietary, high-speed XFlash(R) SDD detector with high energy resolution and light-element capabilities, and an ergonomic, yet tough housing sealed against humid and dusty environments. The S1 TITAN covers a wide range of applications and materials. Whether it's in the metals processing, refineries, mining, consumer product or environmental testing, or recycling -- in terms of analytical performance and proprietary algorithms, the S1 TITAN has made even further progress for many important applications and calibrations, and today present's the best available system for fast, easy-to-use, accurate, reliable and automated elemental analysis and positive material identification. MICRO(TM) Series: This new high-flux Small (SAXS) and Wide Angle X-ray Scattering (WAXS) system is intended for research, development and quality control in bio-medical and pharmaceutical applications. Utilizing an air-cooled high-brilliance micro-focus X-ray source, it provides superior performance beyond widely used rotating anode sources, while avoiding complexity, significant maintenance and operating costs. In particular, the new Bruker MICROCalix(TM) system enables ground-breaking simultaneous SAXS and calorimetry investigations, contributing to a better understanding of the properties of biological nanostructures. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance:

AVANCE(TM) III HD: Bruker introduces High Definition (HD) to NMR with the most sensitive, high definition NMR spectrometer, the new AVANCE(TM) III HD. Thanks to its new digital RF synthesizer, further enhanced receiver electronics, redesigned preamplifiers, extended Digital Lock(TM), SmartVT(TM) and breakthrough novel NMR Thermometer(TM) capabilities, Bruker now offers significant performance advantages to High Definition (HD) NMR users. The AVANCE III HD is both the ultimate NMR platform for life science and materials research, and a robust, automated, easy-to-use NMR analysis system for pharma/biotech, chemistry, metabolomics, nutritional science and molecular diagnostics research. CryoProbe(TM) Prodigy TCI: The new CryoProbe Prodigy TCI is the latest member of the Prodigy product line that delivers tremendous boosts in sensitivity at affordable prices. Prodigy TCI uses nitrogen-cooled RF coils and preamplifiers to deliver a proton sensitivity enhancement of a factor of 2.5, and a carbon sensitivity enhancement of a factor of 2 over room temperature probes. With that, Prodigy TCI provides a '300 MHz-equivalent' sensitivity boost for proton NMR at 600 MHz at a fraction of the cost of ultra-high field systems. Photo

CMC-assist(TM) : The first NMR software tool to enable seamless, integrated workflow from acquisition to molecular structure report generation is CMC-assist (CMC: Complete Molecular Confidence). Delivering support where it's needed, CMC-assist assigns the NMR signals to structural characteristics, conducts a structural consistency assessment and completes the spectral analysis. Results are collated into compact reports for easy transfer of information into publications, lab journals or patent applications.
